Patience, Trust, Faith, And Believing (Part 2)

One day, about three weeks into my stay at the Minirth-Meier Clinic, a doctor told me, “Today, you’re going to get a job.” He handed me a newspaper ad and gave me the keys to my truck, which he’d confiscated upon my arrival. I was hired after three hours of testing and interviews, and the second part of my life began.

I was ready to rebuild my life. The job offered a new start and an unexpected place of employment: North Africa. I arrived in Cairo, Egypt, with a contract from General Dynamics to teach the Egyptian Air Force how to maintain its F-16 fighter jets. Soon, after finding out about my electrical background, I was transferred to the airfield power plant to teach employees about electricity and electrical systems.

For the next three and a half years, the students I taught were Muslim men but in reality, God placed me there to teach me. I was far away from my problems in the United States and my days were spent in a dangerous working environment. I made little money but learned about myself and my belief in God.

In 1989 I left Egypt and moved to Boise. The next year, I headed to Greece to work for NATO, doing top-secret data transfer during the Persian Gulf War. Three years later, I attended school in Phoenix, Ariz., then took a job with the U.S. State Department and worked in various embassies around the world. It was again top secret work, so I can’t tell you about it. But God was still working on me to spread His Word through contact with locals and work colleagues.

This story is about how God can change your life with patience, trust, faith, and a belief with all your heart that He is with you. Pray and listen to your heart before you move in a direction unknown to you. With these qualities, you will prevail in your dreams and goals in life. God works slowly with you if you possess the love of Christ!
