Giving Way To God

When I was a young mother of four, God was calling my husband Venture to the mission field. Our family would be relocating to Ecuador.

I was beside myself. I did not want to go. It immediately caused conflict in our marriage. The arguing went on for weeks. The difficulties of having a special-needs son, living in a third-world country, vaccinations, disease, and, of course, the language barrier loomed. My mind was reeling; I was scared.

One day the Lord got ahold of me in a way that only He could. He spoke to me and told me if I didn’t yield to my husband I’d run the chance of ruining a loving marriage and much more. God told me to trust Him. That day I yielded to the Lord and He changed my heart.

I got the vaccinations and was preparing in earnest to move to Ecuador. Then God closed the door. I believe He was teaching me to trust and yield to Him and my husband. The way God worked in my life was a miracle because no one was going to make me go. God lovingly taught me to trust Him no matter the situation, and I obeyed.
